We took the kids to the National Zoo last week on our first free Satruday in months. It was a beautiful, albeit chilly day. There were, of course, some pretty funny moments. Here we are in the elephant house looking at the relatively inactive hippotomus.
Matt is saying, "Look, Andrew. See the hippo."
Andrew answers and points, "Ball."
"No, Andrew, see that animal. It's a hippo."
"Ball. Ball."

Then we went to the Amazonia exhibit which was new since the last time we visited. I highly recommend a walk through the next time you visit the zoo. Part of the exhibit was an aquarium filled with different species of turtles. This one just hangs out in the water with its mouth open waiting for food to swim into it, kind of like some of my children. Anyway, we sat Andrew on the ledge so he could see the turtle up close, and I hear a shriek from behind me. It was Leah. "Mommy, Mommy. Help Andrew!" Sobs and more shrieking..."The turtle is going to eat Andrew!"
